Project Opportunity is a “Holistic” family services program offered by Trinity Community Coalition Outreach, Inc. (TCCO) that is designed to combat drug and alcohol abuse, recidivism, dependent living of developmentally delayed individuals, low self-esteem of children and homelessness. Our mission is to advocate and empower individuals mentally and physically to become effective, productive and self-sustaining members of society. Our mission is accomplished through counseling, training, job placement and family involvement. Our adult programs provide an avenue for participants to become self-sustaining.
In addition to the programs, TCCO offers emergency, temporary and transitional housing, a food pantry and a clothes closet. Since January 2008, we have provided food, clothing and recovery services to more than 1,500 consumers.
Our children’s program, Children Enhancing Lifestyles Permanently (CELP), is designed to combat low self-esteem, academic failure and risk of juvenile delinquency of children aged 5-12 years through life skills training, tutoring, performing arts and recreational activities.
In December 2008, CELP will hold its first annual performing arts show aimed at promoting talent, creativity, team effort and self-confidence. Events for the day will include theatrics, dance, music, give-a-ways and special guest appearances. More information will be available as the development of the show unfolds.
TCCO believes working with children aged 5-12 years allows us to have a positive impact on their lives thereby changing their mindset BEFORE they reach the point of criminal activity. We NEED your help in making a difference in the lives of these children. Together we can do it! Your tax-deductible donation is much needed and appreciated.
Volunteers are very crucial to our organization. However, before an individual is accepted as a volunteer, TCCO aggressively screens potential volunteers. Applicants must sign an application disclosure affidavit giving TCCO consent to conduct a background check. TCCO will conduct a thorough background check through the Memphis and Shelby County Criminal Justice System, The Child Abuse Central Registry and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Only those applicants who pass the screening process and background check are accepted into the volunteer ranks.
